“The Philippines in a state of Calamity”

Dear Pastor Larry, all Pastors and Congregations;

Mabuhay from Philippines!

Noemi, my family and I are doing well. Praise The Lord!

But our Country is now under State of Calamity, because of Typhoon Ondoy that hit our Country and Metro Manila last Saturday, September 26, 2009, around 900am.

Metro Manila and many provinces still under water. Hundreds died, tens of thousands of families lost their houses, furnitures, appliances, cars and personal belongings.

Today I went around Metro Manila, still lot of roads are not passable because still flooded and muddy everywhere.I saw the devastation and effect of typhoon in our cities. People sleep, cook food on streets, begging for food, clothing and medicines. Evacuation centers are full of people asking for help. I was born here, I experienced many strong typhoons, but this is my first time to see the suffering of our people. My heart was broken, I can't do anything but cried to God for help and mercy.

I received calls from different Pastors of our fellowship, and they are asking help. We have Pastor in Cainta, Rizal, one of the areas that badly hit, that his family were stranded in second floor of the house of their neighbor for almost three days where they took refuge on the event of strong typhoon, because their house was washed out by strong wind and flood and flood water still over ten feet high. Thank God they are all safe.

Another pastor in Marikina City is in the hospital right now because he fell when he was fixing the roof of his house, he had broken bones, his family is in evacuation center, but evacuation centers are  full of people and some are getting sick, and lack of food supplies, and surroundings are very dirty because of garbages and dead animals left by typhoon.

Our government are doing their best, but the effect is so big. Most of our pastors needs food, clothing, tarps, building materials and medicines.

A pastors wife called me this morning, her sister is very ill and is 50/50, no hospital would accept them in their area because hospitals are full, and others are flooded also affected by the typhoon.  They cant go to private hospitals because they are being asked for down payment and they don’t have money, because all is lost in the floods.

Please pray for us. There is another Super Typhoon coming this afternoon [Saturday, 7pm, with winds of 230km/hour]. Much of Luzon, especially around Manila is already a disaster area and still flooded, with no electricity or drinkable water. Please pray that the Lord would be merciful to us and turn the typhoon away, or lessen the winds and the rains. The authorities are trying to help and give foods, clothing's,waters, and

medicines and evacuate thousands of people from different areas.

This might be God's judgment to our Country so that they will call upon the name of God and turn from their wicked ways. But this is also big opportunity for us as Christians and Brothers and Sisters in the Lord to share and show the love of Jesus and preach the gospel.

I am pleading to each one of you to please help us, our pastors, brothers and sisters, our people and my country.

Jesus said, "For I was hungry and you give me something to eat; I was thirsty and you give something to drink; I was stranger and you invited me in; I needed clothes and you clothed me; I was sick and you looked after

me; I was in prison and you came to visit me." [Matt. 25:35-36].

We are pleading for your help!

Love and prayers;
